Well, well, well! We made it! We ended up in the car for 19 hours with traffic included. I was really nervous to see how the kids will do in car seats for that long. Turns out they did fantastic. There were the occasional outbursts from them but all in all it was amazing. DVD players in the car are the best invention ever. I think I have memorized the words to CARS the movie and the Thomas The Train DVD. We had lots of food and drink and everyone seemed happy. They never slept at the same time which made things a bit more difficult, but at least one was out at a time. Aubrey was the hardest one of the two. She decided that in order to get our attention, she was going to throw her pacifiers down. Well, normally that isn't a big problem, but when the car is jam packed with stuff, it makes it hard to retrieve! She did it over and over and over....finally we stopped to get a pacifier thing that clips to her shirt...that seemed to work for a while.
Connor was a trooper! We put him in a diaper for obvious reasons...a long car ride and we thought it would just be a bit safer. Turns out the little guy held it the whole time until we stopped. He would go on the potty when we did. We had one time though where he really had to go and he refused to go in his diaper. We had to pull off the freeway to an empty parking lot and get out the "travel potty" that a friend of mine got me at Ikea. We just set it down, he sat on it and went. Such a big boy! We are pretty much potty trained!
So, we left San Fran on Friday at 3pm and drove till 11pm (after sitting in traffic for 2 hours) slept in Medford, woke up was on the road by 7am and drove into Sandy Point at 5pm on Saturday. It was a good drive and we had fun.
We have been here for about a week now. The weather was gorgeous for the first few days and has been overcast the past couple. The sun always peeks out at some point during the day which is beautiful. We are really enjoying our time up here. We have the Clendenins popping over for dinner tonite and we are visiting the Casino later tonite...wahoooo!
One of the things that I got to do last week was take the kids to get some photos taken with a friend of mine. We just went into her backyard and she took some of the most precious photos of the me and the kids. We are going to have her come out to the point towards the end of the month and try to get some family shots since John was working when we had these taken. I will. post some for you to enjoy.
That is it from here!
