Well, we finally attempted a family vacation. We refuse to take the kids on the plane at this point, although Connor would be good. It is our headstrong daughter that keeps us out of the airways. With this third baby coming, I was itching to get away to see how we would handle a family vacation away from home. We decided Palm Springs would be the best place to go. It is 7 hours drive and a Wed-Sunday seemed do able. To top it off, we found out that my parents were going to be there over some of the time. My parents and Nan rented a house out in Palm Springs with a private pool, villa, hot tub...you name it. IT was perfect and a gorgeous place. We ended up spending most of our days there. Thank goodness because 2 toddlers in a hotel room is not easy. Although, the hotel was brand new and had a full kitchen and separate bedroon, there is still only so much you can do to keep the kids quiet. If Aubrey woke up we couldn't let her whine in the crib we had to get her up right away so she wouldn't disturg the whole hotel. Well every day she woke up 30 minutes earlier. So by the time it was time to leave we were up at 4:30....yes, that is right 4:30. We jsut decided we might as well get in the car and drive home.
The trip was fun but John and I were totally wiped out by the end of it. Just keeping up with the kids, swimming and being in the sun had us tuckered out. We needed a vacation from the vacation. Needless to say, we won't be taking any family vacations for a while.
To top off the vacation, we all got round two of this nasty cold....along with the cold came more ear infections for the kids. Yup, both Aubrey and Connor have an ear infection in each ear. They are back on medication again. Connor started his and had another reacation to the amoxicillan so we stopped it right away and he was switched again. Then that same day, Aubrey lost her balance and fell into her bedroom door. She split her head open and needed to head to the ER where she was glued up. Her gash looked deep to me but was only an inch long or so. She was a little trooper. I don't think the head gash bothered her...just the people messing with her did. We had to pin her down to get the glue on. Then after that she was great for the rest of the day.
So, we have had a wild ride over here but are on the mend and getting anxious/ excited to meet baby #3. I had my prenatal apt today and heard the heartbeat. I am 30 weeks today and the baby sounds great. Hard to believe that in 10 weeks there will be another one here.
Well, that is it in a nutshell. Here are some pics of the trip and the past few days.
