Aubrey after a 35 minute meltdown...story belowConnor and Aubrey have been displaying their little personalities lately. We basically know what we get with Connor, but sometimes he can surprise you. Typically, these days we have a very independent, mischievous little fellow with quite the temper. In the past few days, Connor has also shown his softer side. He loves giving hugs! It is the sweetest thing, not only does he come over and put his head on your shoulder he puts his cheek to your mouth so you can give him kisses. All the while he has a little high pitched coo sound. He is just giving some lovin' and it is the best thing ever. My heart still melts at this almost 2 year old that screams and stomps his feet most of the time these days. He will also come up behind you to hug you. He just loves it.
Yesterday, I took him to the pool where he has his swim class. It is in the backyard of a lady we know down the street from us. She was nice enough to offer us the use of her pool while her lessons are in between session. Her daughter is also our babysitter so we have gotten to know this family pretty well over the past year. We were in the pool and Connor was having the time of his life. He was jumping off the stairs and going under the water and loving it. He wanted to swim on his own if he could but he doesn't realize of course that he would sink to the bottom if I did. It was a fun little Connor and Mommy time and I think Connor appreciated that. Then Kelsey, our babysitter saw that we were there and came over. I have never seen Connor grin that big...he jumped out of the water and just gave Kelsey the biggest hug. Then she asked for another and he obliged. He really knows how to play the crowd! It was so sweet....
So, most of you are probably wondering where Aubrey was during all of this. She was asleep when we got there then as soon as we got in the water she woke up and had a full on meltdown. She screamed non-stop for 35 minutes. Thankfully, Louise (the owner of the pool) loves babies and loved trying to calm her down. Eventually, the screaming stopped and Louise came out without Aubrey in her arms. I asked where she went and the picture above says it all. Aubrey had fallen asleep in Louise's arms so she just made a nest for her to sleep in out of all the swimming towels!
Onto Aubrey's little personality...she as been smiling up a storm especially when she sees John. She will then coo at you, you can coo back to her, she smiles even bigger if that is possible and coos right back. This girl who is 2 months old is carrying on a conversation with you. It is the sweetest thing. I have often called up my mom (aka Nana) and cooed to Aubrey to have her hear the interaction. It is pretty amazing and fun to see. I think those phone calls just make Nana miss her grand babies even more!
Don't worry because John and I have decided that we are headed to Seattle for Christmas this year. Everything was kind of up in the air due to the 2 kids and wanting to travel with them. We bit the bullet and decided we are going to tempt fate and bring a 2 year old and 6 month old on a plane at the busiest time of year. Yes, we are crazy. With John's family making the move to Seattle next week, we thought it was a trip worth taking to visit both sides at that time of year. There are still parts of our families that have yet to meet Aubrey so it is a good decision. We have decided to stay at the Hyatt in Bellevue for the beginning of the trip sine we are now travelling with a family of 4 we thought we would give the Clendenin household a little extra space! We got an incredible deal on a suite there thanks to my friend Kary...so it should be comfortable for all of us. Once Christmas has passed, we will head on up to see the Robertson Clan...should be a jam packed 10 days but will be really fun to be with our families.
That is it for now...we are just plugging along...John has a super busy week at work so it is later nights for him. Other than that, I think what I said above covers it all!
